In 2001 Bryd released three singles from his album "Ten Rounds", with this song being the lead single. It peaked at #1 on the US Country Charts, and his 2nd #1 hit since 1993. The song crossed over on the Billboard Hot 100 at #26.
Garth Brooks had also recorded the song but in a phone conversation, Byrd assured him the song was going to do well as a single for him (Byrd), so Garth let him have the single release and held off. To my knowledge Garth Brooks never did release his version as a single. A true gentleman right there.
This song was from the Tracy Byrd "No Ordinary Man" album from 1994 but was not written by Tracy Byrd. It was the 4th single from the album and managed to reach #2 on the Billboard chart. It also won an ACM Award for Song Of The Year a year after its release.
The album version is a bit higher than the single version as Byrd did a second recording a bit lower as he felt more comfortable in that key vocally. A third recording was done for the 2001 album "Ten Rounds".
