4 Songs From Elvis Presley Movies

1. If I Can Dream

This song seems to be very popular, especially the Elvis Presley version. The song is played in standard pitch tuning but as you'll see below, there are quite a few chords in this one due to a key change.

For rhythm you have a few different patterns occurring. In the beginning is a bit of a shuffle pattern which then changes to a down down up down up down down as you switch from chord to chord.

  • Drop D Tuning = No
  • Capo = No
  • Rhythm = in the beginning is a bit of a shuffle pattern which then changes to a down down up down up down down as you switch from chord to chord

2. I'll Remember You

Kui Lee, an American singer and dancer, wrote this song back in 1963 and after his wife left him and moved to New Jersey with her sister. While working in a nightclub where Don Ho performed, he convinced Ho to allow him to do some singing at the club. Don Ho liked this particular composition and recorded it. Later on in 1966, Elvis also recorded his version.

Kui Lee wrote this song in 4 hours. Lee died in 1966 but by then, there had been 26 artists besides Elvis who had recorded his song including Connie Francis, Tony Bennett and Andy Williams.

This song was written by Joy Byer for Elvis to perform in the 1965 movie called Harum Scarum. The song was never released as a single but has a nice easy laid back Latin vibe to it. The album itself peaked at #8 and the recording took place in Nashville during the last week of Feb 1965.
