Suspicious Minds is one of Elvis Presley's most well-known and enduring hits. It was released as a single on August 26, 1969, by RCA Records. The song was written by Mark James and produced by Chips Moman.

"Suspicious Minds" is a song that blends elements of rock, soul, and gospel music. It features Presley's powerful vocals and is known for its catchy melody and memorable chorus. The song's lyrics revolve around a troubled romantic relationship, with Presley expressing suspicions and doubts about his partner's faithfulness.

The recording of "Suspicious Minds" was a critical and commercial success. It peaked at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States, becoming Presley's last #1 hit during his lifetime. It also reached the top of the charts in several other countries. The song has been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for sales of over 1 million copies.

Presley's rendition of "Suspicious Minds" is considered a highlight of his later career and is often praised for its vocal performance, production quality, and overall impact. Suspicious Minds Lyrics

We're caught in a trap -------- I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, baby
Why can't you see ------- What you're doing to me
When you don't believe a word I say?

We can't go on together - With suspicious minds
And we can't build our dreams - On suspicious minds

So, if an old friend I know ------- Stops by to say hello
Would I still see suspicion in your eyes?
Here we go again ------- Asking where I've been
You can't see the tears are real - I'm crying

We can't go on together - With suspicious minds
And we can't build our dreams - On suspicious minds

Oh, let our love survive - Or dry the tears from your eyes
Let's don't let a good thing die - When, honey, you know
I've never lied to you -- Mmm, yeah, yeah

We're caught in a trap -------- I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, baby
Why can't you see ------- What you're doing to me
When you don't believe a word I say?

Don't you know - I'm caught in a trap - I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, baby
Don't you know - I'm caught in a trap - I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, baby

Suspicious Minds Tips

For the rhythm in this song you'll start off with 2 arpeggio notes on the beginning chords followed by two quick down strokes  and then you can do a steady down up down up down up down up and repeat. Once the song starts to take off you can ignore the arpeggio and just play the rhythm.

In the chorus you'll use mainly downstrokes to chop up the chords.

Elvis didn't put any picking breaks in this one but instead chose to keep repeating the ending lyrics, so I changed that arrangement here you placed a break that follows the melody.

I'm just blending it with the rhythm, so it's not standalone lead or overly complex. You can use it or leave it out of your arrangement.
