In case you're wondering, the song I Still Miss Someone writer was not Emmylou but Johnny Cash and nephew Roy Cash Jr.
This one I'm playing with a Drop D tuning and a capo on 3rd fret. As always, a capo is optional. With this drop D what it allows is one to play the bass note of D on that low top string end while playing the G chord.
You'll see it in the beginning as I play the bass note with the open top string.
This is a typical 3 chord country bluegrass song. Here are the chords needed;
All you need for rhythm to make this work is a root down up root up down up or you can play a bass note by playing root down up bass-note up down up and repeat. I mention Johnny Cash in the video but don't make it clear to the viewer that this is his song, not Emmylou Harris's song.
When I say in the video "a song by so and so ... or "a song from so and so" what I mean is their version of the song and not that they wrote the song.
One could put a full verse picking break in this song but I'm guessing the version I was following only had a short sequence in it so that is what I must have been following at the time.
