Bobby Helms didn't write Jingle Bell Rock but he recorded the song in Oct of 1957. The song reached the top 20 on 3 separate charts at the same time. Helms also made about 4 different recordings of the song during the years but the 1957 original is the one you'll hear most often played during the holidays.
Here are the chords you'll need for this one playing my version.
You can combine the root up down up root up down up rhythm pattern with some quick moves up to the high end of the fretboard where the d chord is sometimes played and also where the a chord is played on the 5th, 6th and 7th frets. Also when you play the B7 chord you can do a quick shuffle strum.
There are also some places where a decending bass line comes in handy when changing from the d to the g for example. And on top of that, there is some walking bass that can be added in on the g and the d chords.
And of course there is always that melody line picking break that's normally done in the middle of the song which can be played by any instrument.
