I'm not sure when Matt Monro recorded this song but the track can be found on his album "The Singers Singer".

Softly As I Leave You was a single release back in 1962 which reached #10 in the UK and #116 in the US.

The song was first written in Italian and converted to English and changed the name by Hal Shaper.

There is an Elvis Presley bootleg version of the song recorded by a fan at the Las Vegas Hilton.
