Welcome to my Never Going Back Again chords and lyrics song page by Fleetwood Mac where you'll find my partial acoustic guitar demo, purchase link for a full lesson, the lyrics to the song as well as a free .pdf sheet you can download and some rhythm tips.
This song hails from Fleetwood Mac's 1977 album called "Rumours". Lindsay Buckingham normally fingerpicks this song and on the album, it was played with a capo on the 4th fret. Now in concert footage you'll often see him play this with a capo 3rd fret and he plays the song much slower.
This song was never released as an A-side single but instead appeared on several singles as a B-side including Don't Stop, You Make Lovin Fun and Dreams.
Lindsay Buckingham of course was dating Stevie Nicks and in 1977 their relationship went south. This song is about that breakup and was the last song written for the 1977 Rumours album.
Record producer Ken Caillat had a very strange request during the recording of this song. He asked a technician to change the strings on Buckinghams guitar every 20 minutes ... for the entire day until the recording was completed. For some strange reason, Buckingham agreed as he was the only musician on the recording.
Artists Matchbox 20 and Colin Reid also covered this song.
