1. Styx Babe

This song hails from the 1979 "Cornerstone" album and was the first single from this record and the only #1 song from Styx in the US. In the UK the song reached #6.

Lead singer Dennis DeYoung wrote the song for his wife and had no intention of releasing the song. But Tommy Shaw convinced his to put the song on the album, and with a little guitar magic from Tommy, the song was a hit.

2. Styx Blue Collar Man

In 1978 Styx release an album called "Pieces Of Eight". Tommy Shaw wrote the song based on a friend who was unemployed at the time.

Along with that was a sound that occurred from his motorboat engine that would not start. Those two pieces together helped form the song which was released as a single and peaked at #21 in the US and #9 in Canada.

Boat On The River was released as a single in several countries from the "Cornerstone" album of 1979, but not in the US for some reason.

It was a #1 in Switzerland and a top 10 in a few other countries.

4. Styx Man In The Wilderness

Man In The Wilderness was written by Styx singer Tommy Shaw for The Grand Illusion album of 1977.

The song was based on Styx opening in Detroit for the group Kansas in which Tommy described as a very unique experience.

This song was never released as a single.

Styx released "Paradise Theatre" in 1981 and this song was one of the singles from that album.

Tommy Shaw wrote this one based on experiences in a bar in Niles, Michigan. The song registered on the Pop Charts in the US at #54.
