3. Faithfully - Learn To Play On Guitar

Album cover for 'Frontiers' album featuring the song 'Faithfully' by Journey – Learn to play on guitar.

Faithfully is from the bands 1983 the album "Frontiers", which was released and written by keyboardist Jonathan Cain.

He wrote it in about 30 minutes about the challenges of being married and being a touring rock musician. Ironically after the songs release, Jonathan and his wife divorced.  The song reached #12 on the Billboard chart.

I play this with a capo 4th because of the vocals being too high so I'm on the low end, in standard tuning. For rhythm play a down down up down up down up will work as you blend in the riff in this song. The chords are G, Em, D, C, Bm and Am.

5. Lights - Learn To Play On Guitar

Album cover for 'Infinity' album featuring the song 'Lights' by Journey – Learn to play on guitar.

Lights was written by Steve Perry about Los Angeles originally, but never had it quite finished when he joined Journey. After moving to San Francisco where the band originated, he modified the lyrics and finished the song.

Released as a single in 1977, the song was only a minor hit peaking at #68 on Billboard. But live, it's a concert favourite. The song can be found on the bands "Infinity" album.

Chords And Strumming

For rhythm if you're playing just strums you could play down down down up down up and repeat. But as as you'll see here I'm using a bit or arpeggio mixed with rhythm. There is some lead here in standard tuning with the chords D, Bm, C, G and A.
