“Best Three Dog Night Guitar Songs”
Never Been To Spain
was an old Hoyt Axton song and was covered by the band back in 1971 and became a #5 hit for the band. The song also reached #3 in Canada and #34 in Australia.
Pieces Of April is a song written by Dave Loggins but was recorded by Three Dog Night for their 1972 album Seven Separate Fools. This track was released as a single and hit the top 20 in 1973.
Shambala
was released by two artists at nearly the same time. The first released
was by B.W.Stevenson. A bit later in 1973 Three Dog Night included the
track on their album Cyan and released their version as one of two
singles from the album. Some people refer to this song as The Road To
Shambala.
The Three Dog Night version became more popular, reaching #1 in New Zealand, #3 in the US and #4 in Canada.
Chords And Strumming
I play a capo 2nd fret here with drop D tuning and starting off with an arpeggio play across the D, C and G chords you'll play a 1-2 down up and repeat rhythm pattern with some a bass run on the way back to the D chord. On the chorus you can play all down stokes and the song does have some lead blended in.
