Welcome to my Forever Young by Bob Dylan page you'll find the lyrics to this song, a free pdf chords and lyrics sheet along with tutorial demos and a link to purchase full lessons in .mp4 format.
Forever Young was written in 1966 about his son Jesse Dylan. The tracked appeared on the Planet Waves album in 1974. There were two versions of this song, a fast paced and a slow paced. Dylan recorded this song with The Band. Dylan played this on stage as a duet with Bruce Springsteen and he also performed the song on Letterman in 1993.
It was never released as a single in the US but a live version was released from a Tokyo live concert in 1978, but only to the European audiences.
Rod Stewart has a similar song but it is a different song. But he contacted Dylan and shared the royalties with him just to be on the safe side. Joan Baez also had a #13 hit with her cover in 1974. Louisa Johnson from the X-Factor TV show also released a version that made it to #9 in the UK.
There was also a book created by Paul Rogers with the lyrics and illustrations. The book is probably available online.
May God bless and keep you always - may your wishes all come true
May you always do for others - and let others do for you
May you build a ladder to the stars - and climb on every rung
May you stay - forever young
Forever young - forever young
May you stay - forever young
May you grow up to be righteous - may you grow up to be true
May you always know the truth - and see the light surrounding you
May you always be courageous - stand upright and be strong
May you stay - forever young
Forever young - forever young
May you stay - forever young
Break
May your hands always be busy - may your feet always be swift
May you have a strong foundation - when the winds of changes shift
May your heart always be joyful - may your song always be sung
And may you stay - forever young
Forever young - forever young
May you stay - forever young
May you stay - forever young
I'm using a Drop D tuning in my version here because it's in the key of D using these additional chords D, A/Db, Bm, G, A7sus, A7, and an A. The rhythm pattern you can use is a down down up down up down up and repeat.
If you check out the live version at the bottom of this page, you'll see and hear a different vibe for the song.
Depending on the instrumentation in your mix, pretty much any instrument could take the lead in this one. You can watch my break in the demo, all of which is described in my full lesson tutorial.
Thanks for stopping by this Forever Young by Bob Dylan page and I hope the info here was useful and helpful.
